Finding a  Credit Counselor

In Oct of 2005 the New  Bankruptcy law went into effect. One of the most important new parts of the law is that it will become much more difficult for people to enter into Chapter 7  and will instead will need to file bankruptcy under the Chapter 13 Bankruptcy.

Chapter 13 requires that you pay at least some of your debt and requires you to work with a credit counselor.  The idea of course is that by working with a credit counselor will  find ways to work your way out of your current financial troubles and also by working with a credit counselor you'll discover ways to prevent from falling into future financial troubles.

Credit Counselors job is to assist you , to work with you through your bankruptcy . That's their job and it really is in your best interest to work with your credit counselor because the sooner you have a plan or paying off debt and living within your means  the sooner the stress of living in debt will go away.

You'll feel better , you can even become  healthier as you cleaning up the debt and relieving that burden from your everyday life . Chapter 7 bankruptcy does not require meeting with a credit counselor.

After Bankruptcy you'll need to work on a Household budget and learn to live by it , the longer you live by a budget the easier it becomes. You'll get Credit Card offers after your bankruptcy and the temptation will be strong but just remember the collection letters and phone calls from the Credit Card companies before you sign on the doted line.

Getting a New Credit Card after Bankruptcy can be done .You will either pay a considerable higher interest rate or need to get a secured credit card



Home Loan after Bankruptcy

Most Lenders require you to be out 2 years after bankruptcy before they will grant you a new home loan.
